Being a Great Mom, Raising Great Kids - by author Sharon Jaynes

Good Morning, just wanted to share with you some great information I received this morning listening to a program called Focus on the Family. On the broadcast, Author Sharon Jaynes shared some of her life story and some great tips in here book Being a Great Mom, Raising Great Kids.
If you are interested in listening click here. Also in the today's spotlight section, Sharon Jaynes has put together some advice and suggestions to help us Moms out.
I know for me I needed this.  There are days as a domestic engineer (Stay at Home Mom) I feel like I have fallen short in many areas.  I am thankful I serve a God that fills me with his love and fills in where I mess up at.  My prayer is for the parents, especially Moms, that the broadcast speaks to your heart and lets you know how precious you are.

Thank you again for letting me share.

Fasting is Officially Over!!

Hello everyone, just wanted to give an update on how my fast went.  I would love to say that I stuck to it 100%, but I would not be telling the truth. I am happy to say that my spirit, mind, and body are more open to what God has for me.  I did lose 13 unexpected pounds and received more energy than before.  Since I was not able to stuff my stomach with cake and crackers, I did have some emotional days.  God revealed to me that I am an emotional eater.  Ouch!!
So now that the fast is officially over the key question is: Will I still continue to make healthier food choices? I would like to ask for those who do pray, to pray that I do make healthier food choices. Food and exercise is one of the areas of my life that I fall short in.
I know that when we are weak, God is strong.

Thank you again for letting me share.

Happy Happy Thursday!!

Hello everyone.  Happy Thursday to all.
This week is a very unique week because I am participating in a prayer and fast for my church, The Champion Center of Las Vegas.  Each year, corporately as a church, we come together by praying and fasting for 40 days.  I choose to pray and fast, from flour and sugar, starting 9/19/11 and ending 10/28/11.  The biggest challenge has been the slight headache and hunger. I know this to shall pass, with each day being easier than the day before.
The amazing opportunity has been praying that the Lord feeds my spirit the way my stomach wants to be feed. I have also been praying for a vision for my life, my husband, my family, my church, and for my creativity.  I am just so excited to see what God has instore!!

Also this weekend my kids and I ventured off to one of our close friend's house, Micheals!!  my oldest Isiah sat outside the store and read his book he was so interested in, while Elijah, Josiah, and I went into the store. Micheals was offering a free birthday card make and take.  Here is Elijah's:

Bridal Shower Card and Matching Favor

I had the privilege of making my best friends Bridal Shower cards and favors for her bridal shower.

I was so excited that I went all out and used sheer ribbon and bling clear rhinestones.  This was my first attempted on a tri fold card.  Tri fold is now my new favorite style of card.

When I thought of a party favor this design came to mind.  I had viewed how to make this favor on another blog awhile ago. I do not remember who's blog or what the template of this favor is called.  If you know, please leave me a comment so I can make the reference.  Thank you again for letting share.  Have a wonderful and bless day!!

Simple, yet cute -thank you #2

Hello everyone. Thankful for another day to share, it has been awhile, life gets busy.  I learned just because you are busy does not equal productivity.  I am asking and learning to let God prune my life.  He knows what is best for me :)!!
One of the many reasons I love simple, yet cute cards is that I can make them fast :)!!

I made this thank you card for my oldest son's birthday gifts that he had received.  He favorite color is green, so that was the inspiration for the card.  For the base of the card, I used a green moss color, that I purchased from a local company, ARC here in Las Vegas.   I also purchased the light blue card stock from ARC. The polka dot paper is made by My Minds Eye.   The ribbon was purchased at Big Lots a couple of years ago.  The flower and blue brad are from the Recollections collection at Michaels.
Thank you again for letting me share.  Have a wonderful and blessed day!!

I have a 12 year old!! Happy Mother's Day!!

Hello Everyone.  First I want to say I am thankful that God has entrusted 3 wonderful boys in my care.  They have literally changed my life!! Being a mom is an awesome, unique rewarding job.
Happy Mommy's Day to all of the moms and pray that you have a very special day.
I know I will.  My oldest son Isiah's birthday is on Mother's Day this year and I have never been so excited to celebrate.  He wanted to have his birthday lunch at his favorite restaurant HOGS HEAVEN, here is Las Vegas, the best BBQ in town and have birthday fun at the Circus-Circus Adventuredome.  So of course I had to make his invites.
I used my circut expression machine to cut the circus tent, the ticket and the words.  This was the first movable card I made.  The ticket slides in and out of the tent.

This is the back of the ticket
I do have to say this was a fun card to make.  Thank you for letting me share.  Have a wonderful and blessed day.

Good Afternoon everyone, First I want to thank God for the gift of sending Jesus Christ to die and pay for our sins.  Happy late Easter!!

Now on to the Simple, Yet Cute card.  This was a card I had made for a good friend.  She wanted thank you cards for her baby shower.
I used a cream color for the base of the card, brown textured card stock for the background, and baby blue strip of card stock in the middle of the card.  One cream and one beige square and brown shimmer ribbon.  This card really can be made for any occasion.  Hope you enjoyed!! Thank you for letting me share and have a bless and happy day!!

Must have for Disneyland!!

Good evening everyone.  Wanted to share a project that I made for my three beautiful boys for our trip to Disneyland!!  I made each there very own autograph book, using my Yourstory, for all the awesome characters that they will see.
Isiah choose Suley and Elijah choose Mickey and Pluto

Josiah was stuck with Nemo, his favorite!!

First I cut white card stock to fit into pre-glued book binder.

Then followed the instructions for binding on the Yourstory.  Then used the cricut expression to cut the Disney images.  Then used the Yourstory again for laminating the images.  Last adhered the images to the book binder.   Thank you again for letting me share.  Hope everyone had a gift that they could appreciate today.  Sometimes there are so many gifts/blessings that come into our lives we forget to open them.

One of my Gifts from Above has been my oldest son, Isiah.  He participated in a local production of Godspell, directed by Eddie Conover.  It was amazing to see many churches come together in the Las Vegas Valley and the talent of the next generation.  Here are some pictures of him in action.

I am happy to be his mommy!!  Thank you Lord for blessing me with a beautiful son and allowing me to be his mom!!  Amen!!

Happy Spring 2011

A couple days ago this week I had an opportunity to spend some time with friends, Lisa and Erlinda.  We had lunch together and shopped at Joann's.   I came home and had a little time to myself and made this card.  I was inspired by the felt eggs and ribbon that was on sale at Joann's.

I used pink card stock for the base of my card.  The blue card stock I embossed with an embossing folder from sizzix called "Flowers".  I used Martha Stewart punch "Spring" on white card stock.  The felt eggs and ribbon are from Joann's.  To make the chickie, I used my gypsy and cricut expression, with yellow, black, and orange card stock. The stamp is from a birthday stamp from dollar Tree.

These two are my son Elijah's favorite.
Thank you for letting me share.  Have a wonderful and blessed day!!
